Slim of frame, Alvero keeps his hair long and combed back over the top. He goes shirtless beneath a blue sleeveless vest, sports leopard-print shorts marked with his crew's Jolly Roger, and laces up dark boots with yellow strings. Whichever actor portrays him on a given day decides whether his hair reads as brown or blond and whether thick black makeup rings the eyes.

A devoted admirer of Monkey D. Luffy in the same vein as his captain Bartolomeo, Alvero makes it his mission to carry word of Luffy's greatness to nations across the globe.

Alvero accompanied Bartolomeo to an unnamed island after Snitcher asked to meet Luffy, and the two pirates arranged the encounter as a banquet, giving Alvero his first meeting with Luffy. He joined in when Snitcher ran a quiz about the Straw Hats, conceding afterward that Snitcher's command of the trivia outstripped even his own. As the scheme played out and the island turned hostile, he stayed beside his captain and fought the attacking Marines, falling for the same ruse as Bartolomeo when a Marine posed as a Luffy fan, though the pair beat their opponents back. He went on to take part in the closing free-for-all among the Straw Hat side, the Marines, and Cross Guild, lasting until the fight finally died down.
