An enormous anglerfish kept by the Flying Pirates, Ankoro dwells in the Underworld of the Sea far below the surface. Treated as a pet by Wadatsumi, it was once warned against devouring ships.
Ankoro is a colossal anglerfish colored grey and brown, marked by small white eyes and fins threaded with prominent veins. A large yellow lure glows at the tip of the antenna rising from its head.
Ankoro nearly swallowed the Straw Hats' vessel before Wadatsumi intervened. Wadatsumi objects to the creature eating ships at all, since a devoured vessel makes any treasure inside far harder to recover.

Once part of Vander Decken IX's command and residing seven thousand meters beneath the waves, it attempted to make a meal of the Straw Hat Pirates and the Thousand Sunny, only for Wadatsumi to halt it and forbid the eating of ships. The anglerfish appeared again while Vander Decken IX spoke with Wadatsumi about Shirahoshi, after which its location became unknown. Its name derives from anko, the Japanese term for anglerfish.
