Serving under Kaidou, Beetleman ranks among the Gifters of the Beasts Pirates. A Rhinoceros Beetle SMILE gave him a brow horn along with a second set of arms. During the Onigashima raid he faces Zoro and presses him to switch sides.
Tall and fair-haired, Beetleman gained his insect traits from the SMILE he consumed, which raised a rhino-beetle horn on his brow and added a second set of arms. He hides his mouth behind a blue cape, and that mouth is brush-like, echoing the real rhinoceros beetle. Completing the outfit are dark blue gloves worn in two pairs, belted dark blue leather trousers, boots, and the black horns the crew wears strictly as decoration.
To Beetleman, falling in line behind Kaidou is simply the easy choice, the route of least effort. A complex over his mouth keeps him hiding it beneath the cape. As with so many in the world, he carries a laugh all his own, written as Kakaka and given as Rhi rhi rhi in the Viz edition.
The Rhinoceros Beetle SMILE accounts for both the horn jutting from his head and the additional arms at his sides. A sword hangs at his hip too, though his proficiency with it has never been confirmed. Amid the Raid on Onigashima he lined up against Roronoa Zoro together with the Nokokuwa Police and Kamakirigirl, crowing about the sheer count of Gifters in the world and urging Zoro to spare himself trouble by joining the Beasts Pirates.
