Appearance

Kaidou towers over ordinary people at a staggering 710 centimeters, his frame thick with muscle and notably top-heavy: enormous arms and a broad chest sit above legs that are slimmer and feet much smaller than his hands. His head is oddly tiny for his bulk and bears two great gray-white horns that sweep forward and then up, one of which Luffy snaps off during their final clash. A heavy hairless brow shadows his sharp, often bloodshot eyes with their small yellow irises, above a hooked nose and a wide, full-lipped mouth set in a near-constant scowl. A black mane of flat, rectangular locks falls to his mid-back, paired with a long Fu Manchu mustache and a spiked goatee.

A deep X-shaped scar marks the right side of his abdomen, a wound left by Kouzuki Oden, with a second slash later added by Roronoa Zoro. A tattoo of reddish reptilian scales runs down his left arm to a skull on the forearm. He drapes a feathered, sleeveless blue-purple overcoat across his shoulders over an open lavender shirt, wears spiked bracelets, and binds his waist with a thick rope belt hung with paper streamers, finishing with baggy gray-green trousers tucked into black boots.

Personality

Brutal, aggressive, and supremely sure of himself, Kaidou seizes every chance to gain ground in war. Beneath that drive lies a deep boredom and apathy; he finds the world dull and longs to ignite the largest conflict imaginable simply to feel something. He prizes strength on the battlefield above all and openly disdains the World Nobles' authority. His outlook on death is reverent, treating it as the moment a person reaches true glory, which is why he respects those who fall fighting to the end, such as Roger, Whitebeard, and Oden.

Because no execution seems able to kill him, Kaidou has made attempted self-destruction into a pastime. He drinks heavily and his temper lurches wildly when drunk, even turning his fists on his own crew; this volatility feeds a special combat style called Shuron Hakke that he reserves for opponents who genuinely test him. Fascinated by the legend of Joy Boy, he came to believe only such a figure could ever defeat him. His distinctive laugh runs "Worororo."

Abilities

Counted among the Four Emperors, Kaidou carries a bounty of 4,611,100,000 Berries, the largest of any living pirate and the third highest ever recorded behind Whitebeard and Roger. As Governor-General he commands a Beasts Pirates organization some 20,000 strong, and his pact with shogun Kurozumi Orochi placed Wano's samurai at his disposal. His raw physical power is the stuff of legend: a single swing of his kanabo sends people flying, and his body is nearly indestructible, shrugging off blows even when reinforced with Armament Haki. By his own account he has lost only eight fights in his life and suffered injury just twice.

His power flows from the Uo Uo no Mi, known as Model Seiryu, a Mythical Zoan that turns him into a vast Azure Dragon or a human-dragon hybrid. His full dragon form spans around half a small town and comes sheathed in tough blue scales. From it he conjures Flame Clouds to glide through the air and even hoist Onigashima out of the sea, and he unleashes blasts of fire, lightning, and wind from his jaws. Kaidou also commands all three forms of Haki, including the advanced Conqueror's variety. He began as a child soldier of the Vodka Kingdom and rose through the Rocks Pirates before building his own crew, finally losing his Emperor status after Luffy defeated him at Onigashima.
