Bokuden is a non-canon elder of Warship Island and the grandfather of Apis, appearing in the anime's Warship Island Arc. He is fondly known for his endless, sleep-inducing tales of the islands' ancient kings.
Bokuden is an elderly man with gray hair and a beard who usually leans on a cane. He dresses in a brown tunic over a blue shirt with tan pants, and wears the same pointed hat common to the other villagers of Warship Island.
For all his wisdom and gentle warmth, Bokuden has a habit of launching into long, tedious histories of the islands' royal ancestors, droning on until both he and his listeners doze off, after which he simply resumes the tale upon waking.
When the Straw Hat Pirates helped Apis return home, Bokuden welcomed them warmly and laid out food, then began explaining the legend of Lost Island and its rumored elixir of immortality. He soon veered off into the complete history of his people, starting from their founding king, and promptly fell asleep mid-story, only to be jolted awake by Lieutenant Commander Hardy storming in. Later he admired the dragons' nesting grounds and offered to cook his special pork buns, though the offer was turned down, and as the crew departed he started to recount the ancestral history to Apis once more, sending her fleeing in dread. He afterward appeared among the crowd at the Pirates Festival.
