Cancer

A scar runs vertically down from Cancer's left eye, the most fixed feature on a middle-aged face usually framed by dark glasses and a cigar clamped between his teeth. His hair sits slicked back, rendered blond in the anime but drifting anywhere from light blond to gray across the digitally colored manga. Beneath his Marine coat he keeps a proper suit and tie. The anime gave him black hair during the Marineford fighting, a contrast to the lighter shade the manga assigns him.

Like any Marine, Cancer professes a firm devotion to Justice, though whether his leanings run toward the moral or the absolute strain has never been spelled out. His composure can crack at the right shock: he was visibly startled when the Whitebeard Pirates' coated paddle ship rose unexpectedly from the bay during the battle.

His rank grants him command over lower officers, and since every vice admiral is said to wield Haki, Cancer can use it as well. He carried a sword into the great war. During the Loguetown chapter of events he was seated beside Vice Admiral Stainless at the conference called over Luffy's first bounty. At Mary Geoise he attended the discussion about replacing Crocodile among the Seven Warlords, where Doflamingo's Devil Fruit forced Mozambia and Stainless into a brawl; Cancer wished to intervene for Mozambia but the manipulation held too firm. At Marineford he lined up with his fellow vice admirals against the Whitebeard Pirates, stood with Doberman, Momonga, and Onigumo to face Little Oars Jr., and watched alongside Tsuru as the hidden paddle ship emerged. In the non-canon film One Piece Film: Z, he joined a meeting at the new headquarters concerning Zephyr's destruction of an Endpoint.
