Appearance

Lola stands tall and heavyset, balanced on short, slender legs, with a sizable head, narrow eyes, and a noticeable nose set above thick, glossy red lips that hide one missing tooth. A small black bowler hat caps her pink hair, which she keeps in two braided pigtails. Following the timeskip those pigtails grow longer and her lost tooth is replaced. She closely resembles her older twin, Charlotte Chiffon. In her younger days she carried more weight, had a complete set of teeth, and styled her hair in a bob, finishing the look with an orange hair bow and a peach dress with puffed sleeves.

Personality

Driven by a longing for genuine love, Lola walked away from the marriage her mother arranged with Prince Loki to seek a partner of her own. By the Thriller Bark events she had proposed a staggering 4,452 times and been refused at every turn, yet she shrugs off each rejection without bitterness. She carries a strong sense of honor, refusing to abandon the Straw Hats even as dawn threatened to burn her to nothing. Chiffon describes her as happy-go-lucky, optimistic to the point of naivety, which led Lola to trust that Big Mom would protect her despite her mother's cruelty and to hand Nami a piece of Linlin's Vivre Card in good faith.

History

Born twenty-six years ago as the younger of twin girls, Lola and Chiffon never knew their father Pound, whom Linlin cast out immediately after their birth. She rose to become a chocolatier and Totto Land's Minister of Chocolate over Cacao Island. When Loki proposed, her mother arranged the union, but Lola fled rather than wed, telling her sister Pudding not to fear for her safety. Her crew crossed into Paradise and passed through Fish-Man Island before reaching Thriller Bark, where Gecko Moria's pirates stripped away their shadows. Joining the wandering victims, she uncovered a weakness in Moria's Devil Fruit.

Years of waiting ended when Luffy and his crew arrived. Lola guided him to her, suffered her 4,444th rejection, then taught him to turn Moria's stolen shadows against him, feeding him a hundred captured shadows for the final clash. As sunlight engulfed the island she stood her ground rather than hide, calling her shadow back just in time. Afterward she recognized Nami through her shadow zombie's memories, formed a sisterly bond with her, and gave her a fragment of Big Mom's Vivre Card. Long after, while her crew lingered in Dressrosa, Gotti mistook her for Chiffon and rescued her from the Marines; smitten at last, he accepted her proposal, and the two married as the Fire Tank and Rolling Pirates celebrated. She also reunited tearfully with Chiffon and met her father Pound for the first time. Lola carries two katanas and possesses skill as a swordswoman.
