Chiya
CharacterChiya served the Shandia tribe as their Pantri, a priestly office, more than four centuries ago on the island of Jaya. His death from Tree Fever, and the desperate sacrifice he called for in his final hours, left a mark on his people's history.
Appearance
Age had deeply lined Chiya's tanned face by the time of his death, and a gap showed where one tooth had gone. Thick and white, both his hair and his full beard framed his features. The Tree Fever that claimed him had spread green blotches across the left side of his face.
Personality
Holding the priestly rank of Pantri among the Shandia marked him as a man of presumed wisdom. As the illness overtook him, however, his thinking turned grim and fearful: convinced the sickness was punishment handed down by the gods, he demanded that a life be offered up to win their forgiveness.

Roughly four hundred years before the present, the Pantri of that era fell victim to Tree Fever. Slipping into delirium near the end, Chiya instructed his tribe to put Mousse to death, believing the act would lift what he saw as a divine curse and restore the people's health. He did not survive the disease.
