Among the rank and file of the Kid Pirates stands Compo, a hulking crewman who looked on as his captain battled on Onigashima. His likeness to the swordsman Moai has caused repeated mix-ups between the pair across the anime and the colored manga editions.

Appearance

Standing tall on a heavily built frame, Compo cuts an imposing figure. His outfit pairs a shirt cut short at the sleeves with a bandana wrapped around his head, a strand of beads worn at the neck, and bracelets stacked along both forearms.

Personality

Little has been shown of the crewman's inner character so far. What the series does establish is his devotion to his captain, together with genuine worry over the man's safety.

History

During the Wano Country conflict, Compo watched from the Live Floor of Onigashima as Eustass Kid took on the Emperor Big Mom. When Kid's railgun failed to bring her down on the first try, several of the crew, Compo included, urged their captain to pull back, only for him to brush the idea aside and press on.

In the anime, his design leans close enough to Moai's that audiences struggled to tell the two apart, and only the credits settled which of them was on screen. That same overlap carried into the colored release, which handed Moai a palette identical to Compo's.
