Desire

Desire's red hair juts out in the same wild shape as Bartolomeo's, framing a face accented with light-red lipstick and pink shadow about the eyes. White diamond earrings hang at her ears, and her signature garment is a long blue coat styled after Japanese street-thug fashion, its lower back painted with ocean scenes and the pink kanji for 'sweet tooth.' Beneath it she binds her chest with a sarashi and wears frilly pale-blue trousers cinched by an 'S'-buckled belt, a silver chain at the left hip, dark-red gloves, and matching heeled boots. She tends to carry a walking stick.

Desire works hard to project a chilly, all-business demeanor, though she loses her composure easily once an opponent gets the better of her. She inherited Bartolomeo's habit of placing great faith in her grandmother's supposed wisdom. Above all she dreams of climbing to the very top together with her comrades, and her devotion to them runs deep; betrayal or a sudden change of heart from those she trusts sends her into a fury.

Desire and Bartolomeo grew up side by side in the East Blue and swore to reach the summit of piracy as a team, a vow he shattered when he pledged himself to making Luffy the Pirate King. The two parted ways, and during her own voyage Desire's crew was nearly wiped out by a powerful foe. At death's door she was rescued by Bill, who promised her a shared rise to the top in exchange for her loyalty, never letting on that he had engineered her crew's destruction himself.

At Silver Mine she led the hunt for Luffy, baiting him and Bartolomeo into a trap with a giant slab of meat before Peseta closed the net. After several pursuits, betrayals, and narrow escapes, including being targeted for death by her own subordinate Aveyron on Bill's order, Desire learned the full truth of Bill's treachery and turned on him in rage. With help from Luffy and Bartolomeo she saw Bill defeated, reunited with the remnants of her crew, and rode off still set on reaching the top on her own terms, declining any place under Luffy's banner.
