The dragon was a savage predator fixated on devouring anyone who trespassed. It showed little intelligence, at one point chomping down on its own wing while lunging at Luffy, who had perched on its back.

History

Vegapunk engineered the beast as the thirteenth in a line of dragon experiments, the first to actually succeed, and posted it to defend his Punk Hazard laboratory. The World Nobles took a liking to it, and one of them granted it its name. Four years before the present, Caesar Clown set off his poison weapon and blanketed the island, prompting Vegapunk and the scientists to evacuate and seal the place, leaving the dragon behind. It endured without trouble, surviving even the later duel between Akainu and Aokiji that split the island into burning and frozen halves, and continued guarding its post amid the scorching Burning Lands.

In combat it was formidable, sweeping enemies aside with broad streams of fire, snapping with teeth tough enough to ring against Zoro's swords, and flying at speeds hard to track. Its hardened scales shrugged off Luffy's strongest punches, though its underbelly was left exposed and vulnerable. When Luffy, Zoro, Usopp, and Nico Robin set foot on Punk Hazard, the dragon attacked at once. After Luffy struck its soft underside and it accidentally bit its own wing in midair, it dropped toward the ground, where Zoro beheaded it with Ittoryu Iai: Shi Shishi Sonson. The Straw Hats then cooked and ate the carcass.
