Gan Fall

An elderly man of middling height, Gan Fall is marked by flowing white hair, a heavy mustache, and a pointed beard. Living up to his knightly title, he wears a full suit of medieval-style metal armor, pauldrons, gauntlets, and greaves, usually keeping his visor lifted, with a billowing cloak clasped by rosette studs over a reddish-pink shirt and brown trousers. Unlike most Skypieans, he has no wings.

Back when he openly held the role of God, he traded armor for stately robes, light green beneath a grand white-and-gold mantle. After the timeskip his clothing relaxed considerably even as his features stayed the same: he ties his hair into a low ponytail and wears a zip-up shirt bearing the kanji for "God," black shorts, and plain sandals.

Noble and selfless, Gan Fall is the sort of man who would risk his life for a total stranger. He acts out of genuine care for all of Skypiea rather than personal gain, and he reaches for diplomacy over force at every turn. That conviction set him against the long, bitter war with the Shandia, a conflict he wanted resolved through reconciliation rather than bloodshed. His loathing for Enel, who enslaved and then discarded his Divine Squad and finally moved to destroy Skypiea outright, ran absolute, leading him to brand the usurper a god of evil.

Roughly twenty-five years ago Gan Fall befriended Gol D. Roger and helped the future Pirate King descend to the Blue Sea after Roger's crew found the Poneglyph in the golden belfry. For generations he tried to broker peace between Skypieans and Shandia, but Wyper and the younger warriors refused unless he sacrificed innocent Skypieans, and even an offhand remark about pumpkins once sparked a skirmish. When Enel invaded, he crushed both Gan Fall and the Shandia and seized the title of God, forcing the old ruler into hiding as the mercenary Knight of the Sky.

Though past his prime, Gan Fall remains a dangerous fighter, skilled with a lance and well versed in Dials, including the Impact Dial hidden in his gauntlet. He rides his Devil Fruit-empowered partner Pierre, who ate the Uma Uma no Mi and can become a Pegasus. Without any Mantra of his own, he still pressured the Observation Haki user Shura and survived a colossal bolt from Enel.

During the Skypiea Arc he rescued the newly arrived Straw Hats from Wyper and gifted them a whistle to summon him. He answered Chopper's call against Shura, fought fiercely before being pierced and dropped into the sea, then recovered to help Nami crush Hotori and Kotori. In the survival game's final stretch he allied with Zoro, Robin, and Wyper to challenge Enel directly, only to be felled by a 200 million volt blast. After Enel's defeat, both Skypieans and Shandia welcomed him back as God, with Wyper's warriors becoming his God's Guards.
