The Gorgon Sisters are a trio of Boa siblings who rule the Kuja tribe and command the Kuja Pirates from Amazon Lily. Led by Boa Hancock, the three stood as the chief antagonists throughout the Amazon Lily Arc.
The sisters are the three daughters of the Boa family: Hancock, the eldest, who leads as empress and captain; Sandersonia and Marigold, the younger pair who share the role of second-in-command. Each bears a pair of marks resembling extra eyes on her back, the feature their public legend ties to a curse said to petrify anyone who looks upon it. The image they cultivate is one of heroines, and the marks are hidden from outsiders at all costs.
Years of suffering left the sisters with a profound loathing of men, rooted in the cruelty of the first man they ever encountered. They came to regard all males as selfish and brutal and clung to that view for a long time. Hancock in particular grew cold and unfeeling toward everyone outside her sisters, the trauma of her past having stripped away her gentler nature. That hardness only began to soften when Luffy shielded their secret and gave up his own escape to rescue petrified Kuja, prompting Hancock to fall in love with him.
The truth behind the sisters' supposed curse is far darker. The marks on their backs are in fact the World Nobles' brand, the dreaded Hoof of the Flying Dragon, seared into their flesh to mark them as slaves. The powers they pass off as a gift from the Gorgon were in reality Devil Fruits forced on them for their masters' amusement. For four years they were abused and longed for death, until Fisher Tiger scaled the Red Line, stormed Mary Geoise, and freed every captive there, leaving the sisters in his debt.
Even freed, they could not go home until Gloriosa, along with Silvers Rayleigh and Shakuyaku, helped them. To bury their shame, they exploited the tribe's ignorance of the outside world and invented the tale of slaying the monster Gorgon. From then on, any time one of them needed to bathe, the whole tribe was cleared from the castle and barriers raised so the brand stayed hidden, with anyone who glimpsed it risking petrification or death. Hancock rose to empress and Kuja Pirates captain, accepted an invitation to join the elite Seven Warlords of the Sea, and used the post to keep outsiders away from Amazon Lily.
When Kuma sent Luffy to Amazon Lily, he accidentally saw Hancock's mark, yet his selflessness changed how the sisters viewed men, and Hancock agreed to help rescue his brother Ace even though it meant facing the World Government again. After the war she nursed Luffy back to health and later reunited with him following the timeskip. During the Wano period the Blackbeard Pirates struck Amazon Lily to seize her Mero Mero no Mi, and though Hancock petrified much of the attacking force she was beaten once Blackbeard nullified her power, only for Rayleigh to drive him off. By the Egghead era, a recovering Hancock resolved to depart the island so she could shield her people and find a way back to Luffy.

The Gorgon Sisters are a trio of Boa siblings, Boa Hancock, Boa Sandersonia, and Boa Marigold, who rule the Kuja tribe and command the Kuja Pirates from Amazon Lily. Led by Hancock, they served as the chief antagonists of the Amazon Lily Arc.
The three Gorgon Sisters are Boa Hancock, the eldest, who leads as empress and captain, along with her younger sisters Boa Sandersonia and Boa Marigold, who share the role of second in command.
The Gorgon Sisters never actually turned into gorgons. The eye-like marks on their backs, which their public legend blamed on a Gorgon's curse, are in truth the World Nobles' slave brand, the Hoof of the Flying Dragon, and their powers came from Devil Fruits forced on them as captives rather than any curse.
The Gorgon Sisters gained their freedom when Fisher Tiger scaled the Red Line, stormed Mary Geoise, and freed every captive held there, leaving the sisters deeply in his debt. Gloriosa, Silvers Rayleigh, and Shakuyaku then helped them return home to Amazon Lily.
The Gorgon Sisters, especially Hancock, developed a deep hatred of men after suffering years of cruelty as slaves. That hardness only began to soften after Luffy protected their secret and gave up his own escape to rescue petrified Kuja tribeswomen, which led Hancock to fall in love with him.
