World towers over others, a hugely broad man whose massive arms sit oddly against thin legs. A green beard and a paler green W-shaped mustache frame his face, and his scalp carries a scar above missing teeth. A horned helmet sits on his head with one horn deliberately broken off, taken from a defeated pirate so his sickly brother Byojack could perch on his shoulder. Green trousers, brown shoes, and a brown belt round out a look completed by a sleeveless black-and-purple coat. He is known for the unique laugh Barorororo.

In his youth World wanted nothing more than to roam the seas freely beside his brother, prizing friendship and loyalty above all. Betrayal shattered that. When his subordinates turned on him for a government pardon and Cipher Pol took him, decades in Impel Down twisted his goal into pure revenge against the World Government, even at the cost of his own crew. He grew ruthless, reserved, and distrustful, obsessed with punctuality and intolerant of any failure to obey. Branded the Destroyer of the World, he had cut down Nobles, Marines, civilians, and rival pirates alike. His stubborn ignorance, including no knowledge of the Warlords formed after his capture, blinded him to the flaws in his schemes, such as overvaluing Boa Hancock as a hostage.

World ranked among the great pirates of Roger's era, carrying a 500,000,000 Berry bounty and confined to Impel Down's Level 6, where captors froze him to stop his aging and lock his strength at its thirty-year-old peak; he once flattened a Noble transport guarded by three warships in under fifty seconds. His Devil Fruit, the Moa Moa no Mi, is a Paramecia-type power that multiplies the size and speed of anything he touches by as much as a hundredfold, letting him hurl enlarged weapons and projectiles that land with crushing, hard-to-evade force. A master of Armament Haki, he hardens his fists or even his face to wound foes and block blows, and he also commands Six Powers techniques such as Soru and Geppo. After breaking out during the Marineford war, he rebuilt his crew and pursued revenge, seizing Hancock's sisters Marigold and Sandersonia as hostages and beating Luffy more than once. Luffy finally broke through with a Haki-charged Gomu Gomu no Red Hawk; after Mihawk split his last giant cannonball in two, the drained World toppled as the Marines destroyed his ship.
