Han, also called Han-ko, is a young boy living in the impoverished Ebisu Town of Wano Country. Like his neighbors, he swallowed a defective SMILE fruit that locked his face into permanent laughter, leaving him able to express only mirth no matter what he feels.
Han is a tiny child topped with a small knotted tuft of dark hair over a round head. His features are equally compact: little eyes, a small rounded nose, and a gap where a front tooth should be. Snot tends to run from his nose, completing the scruffy look.
Because a leftover, faulty SMILE robbed him of every other expression, the boy can do nothing but grin and laugh whatever the moment. Outside of that affliction he comes across as cheerful and sociable, happily pestering the kindly Tonoyasu for attention and play.

During Tonoyasu's rounds through Ebisu Town, the old man stopped to ask Han how his mother was faring, and the boy answered by begging him to play. Tonoyasu obliged, tickling Han on the ground before scooping him up and carrying him along on his back.
