Hangan

The most striking thing about Hangan is his neck, which stretches to an unnaturally long length. His hair carries a blue-grey shade, and the bones of his cheeks, plus sections of his forehead, form sharp squared edges. For clothing he favors a dark coat trimmed at the hood with white fur, a spotted shirt worn underneath, and a black cowboy hat sitting on his head.

Little has been documented about what drives him. Even so, his loyalty toward Ace speaks volumes, since he chose to gamble his own life on a rescue rather than slip away down the escape route that Whitebeard had torn open using the tremors of his power.

At some point before the present events of the story, Hangan built up a frightening name for himself across the New World and entered into an alliance with Whitebeard. That reputation, plus his standing among Whitebeard's forces, marks him as a formidable figure, though the specific powers and weapons he commands have never been disclosed.

His role came to the fore during the clash at Marineford. With Ace scheduled to die there, Hangan brought his own crew to fight beside Whitebeard. Once Little Oars Jr. forced open a route, he took position next to Reforte and Arthur and shouted the command for the assembled pirates to surge into the bay. He looked on as Luffy pushed toward the scaffold with help from the Choki Choki no Mi, and he was among those gathered near Luffy and Ace, together with Ramba and Choi, when Akainu struck Ace down. After Shanks arrived and declared an end to the fighting, Hangan departed along with the other surviving pirates.
