Appearance
Stooped posture and modest height defined Hitaki, a man past his prime whose face carried sharp, pointed brows and a jaw that narrowed to an angular point. His mouth stretched broad above a pair of slender lips. For dress he favored a dark robe trailing a long, pale tail behind it, and he finished the look with an oversized hat shaped like a splash of spilled paint.
Personality
Little of his temperament survives in the record. What is documented is his reaction to treachery, since the disloyalty of Lark left him stunned.
History
Hitaki was governing Yo as its daimyo when Lark, a prince from a bordering territory who stood second in line for that very office, approached him. Hungry for the position himself, Lark killed Hitaki and then pinned the murder on Toratsugu, a faithful retainer who happened to be engaged to Hitaki's daughter, Kikuhime. Both Toratsugu and Kikuhime were devastated by the loss, a grief that spoke to how close the family had been. Lark, for his part, held no respect for the man he served under, valuing power enough to take a life for it.
