Appearance

Ideo ties his dark purple hair, drawn black in the manga, into a tight ponytail and sports a beard of the same shade, a widow's peak, sharply cut features, and dark liner circling his eyes. Being a Longarm, his arms have an additional elbow joint, which he keeps folded up over his shoulders instead of in the standard spot, adding power to his strikes. Three piercings run through his ear, and four black crosses are tattooed across his chest.

His manga outfit consists of a green jacket striped white down each sleeve, matching shorts, a broad belt, and knee pads, together with bandaged calves and red gloves. He added dark shoes once he became a captain. The anime preserves the design but switches the stripe color to red.

Personality

Confident enough to step into the Colosseum, Ideo names one goal: becoming stronger, the very reason the Mera Mera no Mi appeals to him. He can be ruthless, thinking nothing of hitting a downed opponent. Where many freed from Sugar's curse were tempted by reward, greed left him unmoved, and he turned his fists on the Donquixote Pirates rather than pursue bounties. Honor matters to him, shown when he vowed to keep Dellinger occupied so Luffy could reach Doflamingo, and he speaks with clear pride about repaying what he owes the Straw Hats. He likewise bears no grudge against the Longleg Tribe, comfortable with a crewmate of that line.

History

Twice over, Ideo took top honors at a New World Central Fighting Tournament, and he ranks as a formidable XXX-class boxer whose trademark Hakai-ho, or Destruction Cannon, is an explosive blow fueled by his compressed Longarm joints. Assigned to C Block in the Corrida Colosseum's free-for-all, he opened by hurling the unconscious giant Hajrudin clean out of the ring. He matched Sai blow for blow until Chinjao, swept up in his quarrel with Luffy, knocked him out of the running.

Turned into a toy by Sugar's power, Ideo changed back the moment she lost consciousness and broke out of Doflamingo's Birdcage with the rest of the gladiators. Joining Luffy, Zoro, and Law, he fought up the King's Plateau through Pica and the Donquixote forces, where Dellinger ran him through the stomach and finished him with a bite to the shoulder. Once Mansherry mended the injured fighters, Ideo helped force the shrinking Birdcage back, giving Luffy the time needed to bring Doflamingo down. His band, known by the name XXX Gym Martial Arts Alliance, swore loyalty to Luffy and was folded into the newly formed Grand Fleet, with Orlumbus presenting him a ship. Sailing on afterward, the group eventually took the name Ideo Pirates.
