A canine mink, Duke Inuarashi once split rule over the Mokomo Dukedom as its Ruler of Day, governing from dawn until dusk. Sworn to the Kouzuki clan as a retainer and counted among Oden's Nine Red Scabbards, he ranks among Zou's mightiest warriors and now holds the post of daimyo of Kuri.
Towering and battle-worn, Inuarashi is a hulking canine mink whose grizzled frame is crowned by shoulder-length black ears, a snowy beard, and a thick, bushy tail. A small pair of blue tinted glasses rests on his snout, and his body carries the Kouzuki clan emblem somewhere upon it, the mark borne by every one of Oden's retainers.
For his stand against Jack he donned a dark blue suit streaked with thin yellow stripes, finishing the look with a frilled collar, a burgundy cape, a belt, and a helmet, while his recovery from the ensuing coma left him swaddled in bandages beneath a regal robe. The torture inflicted by Jack cost him his left leg, which he later replaced with a blade during the assault on Onigashima, keeping it sheathed in a scabbard whenever he is not fighting.
Inuarashi is a gentle, dignified ruler whose benevolence earns him deep affection from his people. He carries himself with polish and courtesy, speaking softly even to foes and referring to himself with the formal watashi, and he recoils from brutality, which left him aghast at Jack's savagery. Grateful and humble, he brushed off Luffy's praise of his strength and was eager to thank the Straw Hats for rescuing the Mink Tribe.
Beneath that refinement lies an iron will. Though he is Zou's strongest fighter, he favors negotiation over force and was willing to lower his sword to spare his citizens, yet he absolutely refused to betray Raizo's hiding place even as torture stripped away his leg, prepared to risk his entire kingdom to shield a friend. His long, bitter feud with Nekomamushi, whom he derides as a barbaric Monster Cat, runs alongside that loyalty, the two minks blaming one another for Oden's death until they reconcile for Momonosuke's sake. Like other canine minks, he finds Brook's skeletal body tempting to chew, though he kindly let the injured musician recover first.
As one of Mokomo's two former rulers, Inuarashi wielded great authority over the Mink Tribe and commanded the Musketeers, including officers such as Shishilian, Concelot, and Giovanni. He is reckoned equal in power to Nekomamushi, their countless duels ending in stalemate, and he fought Jack on even footing until the All-Star resorted to Caesar Clown's Koro gas. His strength let him halt Jack's building-shattering trunk with a single hand and endure five days of combat plus a full day of torture. Beneath the full moon he can unlock the Sulong transformation, magnifying his speed, strength, and Electro to the point that he and Nekomamushi overwhelmed Jack outright. A master swordsman, he channels Electro through a rapier and shifted to a two-blade style once he affixed a blade where his lost leg had been, and he can even reproduce Oden's signature two-sword and one-sword techniques. He also commands both Armament and Observation Haki, hardening his blades sharply enough to cut Kaidou's hide.
In his youth Inuarashi and Nekomamushi, curious about their tribe's pact with the Kouzuki, left Zou for Wano and were shipwrecked at Kuri Beach, where Kawamatsu found them. After humans persecuted the three, Kouzuki Oden rescued them and took them on as retainers, and a scolding turned kindness from Shimotsuki Yasuie set them on the path to becoming dignified warriors. The two minks stowed away aboard Whitebeard's ship and later Roger's Oro Jackson, sailing the world with Oden, though they chose to remain in Wano with the ailing Toki and never reached Laugh Tale. When Orochi seized power, they stayed loyal through Oden's years of disgrace and marched with him against Kaidou, only to witness their lord's execution. Afterward the pair fell to quarreling, splitting Zou's rule between day and night.
Years later Jack invaded Mokomo hunting for Raizo, and Inuarashi traded blows with him for days until the Koro gas felled the minks and the torture claimed his leg, leaving him comatose until the Straw Hats arrived and saved his people. Waking on Zou, he met Luffy's crew, revealed the secret of the Road Poneglyphs, reconciled with Nekomamushi before Momonosuke, and helped knit together the alliance binding ninja, pirates, minks, and samurai. He journeyed to Wano, reunited the Nine Red Scabbards by winning Ashura Doji back, and joined the raid on Onigashima, where he and the other Scabbards struck Kaidou's scar and he put his long grudge to rest, finishing Jack off using his personal Oden One Sword Style technique, Inu Spire. With Momonosuke installed as shogun, Inuarashi stayed in Wano, named Carrot to lead Zou in his place, and took up the role of daimyo of Kuri.
