Kaneshiro is the goldfish fish-man who serves as shipwright of the Arlong Pirates, having earlier sailed with the Sun Pirates. His body is marked with the character for gold, a nod to the goldfish species he belongs to.
A goldfish fish-man with pale pink skin, Kaneshiro has a wide blue fin sprouting on either side of his head. The character for gold is inked across his head and chest to mark his species, while a sun emblem on his left arm recalls his days with the Sun Pirates. He dresses in an open orange shirt patterned with circles, white trousers held by a pale purple sash, and a small yellow hat perched up top.
Years earlier, during his crew's raid on the Conomi Islands, he favored a darker hat and cape, a short-sleeved shirt plastered with the gold character, sandals, and frilled striped trousers cut off past the knee that exposed a leg tattoo reading THE GOLD FISH.
The record says little of his temperament beyond his bewilderment when Usopp shot Arlong and loudly announced himself, leaving Kaneshiro fumbling even to make out the sniper's name.

As the crew's shipwright, Kaneshiro can both repair and build vessels, and his fish-man heritage makes him several times stronger than any human, though he still ranks as a lackey beside Arlong's heavy hitters. He once carried a short knife into a charge but was put down before he could draw it, and during the Conomi raid he bore a saber that was never seen in use. Originally one of the Sun Pirates, he threw in with Arlong after Fisher Tiger's death scattered the crew, following him to build the Arlong Empire in the East Blue.
When the pirates seized the Conomi Islands, he stood watch as the officers extorted the villagers. Eight years into their reign he was at Arlong's side when Usopp opened fire, and soon after he, Shioyaki, and the rest stormed the Straw Hats, only for Luffy to grab the sea cow Momoo by the horns and swat them all aside. The Marines eventually rounded him up with the crew.
