Personality

Heracles paints him as a savage beast, and the squid lives up to it by flying into a temper and spraying the Straw Hats with ink the moment they crossed his path. For all that ferocity, his nerve fails once the fight turns against him, leaving him rattled and ultimately crushed by defeat.

History

Reputation painted King as a powerful creature, yet his bulk and aggression counted for little once the Straw Hats fought back, and he went down with ease. His one notable trick was the Ikasmin Attack, in which he puffed his cheeks and fired a focused jet of black ink meant to blind and drive off foes rather than wound them.

While the Straw Hats and Heracles hunted for food on Natsuyasumi Island, Heracles warned them about a fierce squid prowling the area. They soon met King, who flew into a rage and doused them in ink. The crew retaliated, with Sanji landing his Diable Jambe grill kick and Usopp launching Luffy skyward with a Pop Green. The captain then finished the squid off with a Gear 3 barrage, knocking him out cold. After the crew discovered that the island's mountain was actually a giant grill, they cooked King alongside local vegetables and ate him.
