Bukini's blonde hair carries a red-dyed section across the front. Gold jewelry hangs at his neck, and he sports a white jacket trimmed in yellow with red lining over trousers patterned with red flames. His belt buckle bears the insignia of the Donquixote Pirates.

Manipulation is Bukini's stock in trade. He seized a young girl's parents to coerce her into both working for him and baiting others into capture and slavery within his weapons operation. Posing as the cheerful host of a game show, he dangled promises of fulfilled dreams and riches to lure in the island's guests. Contestants who tried to win through sheer strength faced being remade into obedient soldiers.

Bukini consumed the Gutsu Gutsu no Mi, a Paramecia Devil Fruit that turns him into a smelting man. Working under the Donquixote Pirates, he captured Homey's parents and forced her into his service, then built the so-called KANAEMA SHOW, a sham contest promising a hefty cash reward while secretly funneling participants into the island's underground weapons factory as forced labor.

When the Straw Hat Pirates arrived on Paradise Island, Bukini played his role as the show's host. Trafalgar Law had been digging into the contest, suspecting Doflamingo financed it, and disrupted the event with an attack that exposed the whole scheme. Luffy then wrecked the weapons factory and brought Bukini down with Gomu Gomu no Red Hawk, sending him plunging into a blast furnace below the ruins and triggering a massive explosion. His character draws clear parallels to the anime-only Bill, another Gutsu Gutsu no Mi pirate who served a larger villain and met his end falling into his own operation.
