Lao G is an aged officer of the Donquixote Pirates serving in the Diamante Army. A master of the Jio-Ken martial art who once trained a young Trafalgar Law, he acts as a supporting antagonist throughout the Dressrosa Arc.
Short and elderly, Lao G is bald with veins standing out on his scalp, a beard, and heavily creased skin. His eyes stay shadowed and squeezed nearly shut, and his mouth is likewise darkened, hinting at a toothless state despite his ability to talk and eat. He wears a blue jumpsuit marked with a white upward arrow and lightning-bolt shapes toward the shoulders, belted with a buckle reading G, plus white gloves and boots over red tights. In his younger years he was muscular with a dark beard trimmed into a G shape, his eyes wide and open before age narrowed them.
Stern and unwaveringly loyal, Lao G treats Doflamingo's commands as absolute and keen enough to sense his captain's hidden motives behind a supposed abdication. Calm and analytical on the surface, he hides a brutal, boastful streak, gleefully showing off his techniques and pummeling foes with savage efficiency. He has an unmistakable verbal tic of stressing the letter G in his speech and even shaping it with his hands, and his laughter runs Fafafafafafa. Age has left him somewhat senile, hard of hearing, and dependent on glasses, though none of this dulls his fighting edge. He can also be coldly cruel, mocking Baby 5 over her need to feel useful and striking down Chinjao while the man was distracted.
As an officer Lao G held command over lower-ranking crew and some 2000 soldiers, and he regularly competed in the high-caliber Corrida Colosseum despite his years. Notably he is the only Diamante Army officer without Devil Fruit powers or fish-man heritage, relying purely on physical skill, and the four officers together were said to guarantee victory in the tournament. He remains an exceptional martial artist, downing the swift Thunder Soldier with ease and swatting the near-invisible dwarf Kabu in an instant after donning his glasses. His durability and endurance are immense, surviving a Haki-imbued kick from Sai that split the ground. He masters the Jio-Ken style, whose techniques turn the frailties of old age into weapons, and through its ultimate qigong technique he stores the vigor of his youth to unleash his prime strength on demand, even appearing to grow stronger the older he gets.
Lao G joined the Donquixote Pirates before a ten-year-old Law arrived, and at Doflamingo's instruction he taught the boy hand-to-hand combat. He took part in Doflamingo's seizure of Dressrosa and the hunt surrounding the Ope Ope no Mi and Rosinante's betrayal. During the Dressrosa Arc he guarded the SMILE Factory, defeated Thunder Soldier and his dwarves, and fought through the palace's defenders. He reprimanded Trebol and Diamante for their failures, and in an extended duel overwhelmed the legendary Chinjao with his Jio-Ken, even briefly dying before Baby 5's call revived him. After defeating Chinjao with Sento Ho Ken, he turned on Sai, only to be felled by Sai's Haki-imbued Kiryu Kirikugi and sent tumbling into a chasm. He was later captured by the Marines following Doflamingo's downfall.
