The two siblings look nothing alike. The elder is lanky, sporting short purple hair, a broad mouth, and a neatly groomed mustache; he dresses in a purple suit, beneath which sits a blue shirt finished off by a tie striped in orange and black. The younger has a stout, rounded frame, brown hair, and a beard, and he covers a black shirt with the regulation Marine cook's uniform.

Both carry themselves with cocky, near-boastful pride in their cooking, claiming to have prepared meals from the rarest and priciest ingredients at a cost reaching 1,000,000 Berries for a single plate. That confidence is a sham, however. They arrive at G-8 supposedly to raise the local cooks' standards, yet their own work turns out far weaker than they advertise. Whether the luxury ingredients of Mary Geoise simply fooled them into thinking they were skilled, or they lied on purpose, is never settled.

Insisting on only top-grade ingredients and reportedly spending 1,000,000 Berries per meal, the brothers draw nothing but contempt from the G-8 cooks. Nami arranges for them to lose their way inside the base, which leads to Luffy and Sanji being mistaken for the pair. Once the siblings finally reach the Mess Hall, they perform well below the other chefs and cannot manage something as basic as peeling potatoes, having always leaned on assistants back at headquarters. An exasperated Jessica orders them to begin again at the lowest rung of dishwasher. In the Funimation dub the older brother talks with a French accent and the younger with a Russian one, and the closed captions label them Monty and Murray.
