Abilities

Her mermaid heritage lets Mero breathe beneath the waves and communicate with fish through sonar, and mermaids in general count as the swiftest swimmers anywhere in the world. On top of this she is an accomplished dancer. When Camie first brought the Straw Hat Pirates to Mermaid Cove, Mero and her companions welcomed the visitors, with Mero remarking that the crew hardly looked intimidating. The mermaids tried to shield the pirates when the three princes came asking about their unlawful arrival, though Sanji's nosebleed and Hammond's attack soon gave them away, and the princes revealed they only wished to pass along Jinbe's message to Luffy. After Caribou abducted Ishilly, Fillonce, and another mermaid, Mero and the rest were left puzzled, knowing only that Ishilly had been opening a barrel. Once the clash with the New Fish-Man Pirates was over, the dancers performed at the Ryugu Palace celebration honoring the crew's win and waved them off toward the New World. Later she watched Caribou try to snatch a defenseless mermaid, and during the Egghead Arc she swam through a drowned city as Vegapunk's broadcast exposed these hidden civilizations to the surface.
