Personality

Warm and openhearted, Raoul cautioned Roger about the perils of the Grand Line and later happily shared tales of the Pirate King's adventures with Luffy. He has little patience for Smoker, however, whose presence kept scaring off every other customer.

History

Before setting out for the Grand Line, Gol D. Roger and his crew once dropped by Raoul's bar. The barkeeper tried to warn Roger of what lay ahead, but the future Pirate King only grew more eager. Raoul was also among those present at Roger's execution.

Years on, with Smoker commanding the Loguetown Marines, pirates stopped frequenting the bar and the smoke-wreathed captain became Raoul's lone patron. When Luffy wandered in by chance, Raoul recounted Roger's exploits and was stunned to hear the boy declare he would become the next Pirate King, remarking on how much the youngster resembled Roger. After Luffy left, Smoker came by for a drink, much to Raoul's displeasure.
