Ratel

A theming around the honey badger drives Ratel's design, right down to the round animal ears mounted on his Marine cap. His face carries three whiskers along either cheek, a heavy nose, and dark shadows pooled beneath his eyes, with thick lips completing the look. Build-wise he is unremarkable in size. Over a pale suit he layers the regulation Marine coat.

Corruption and greed define him. Ratel feels free to rob and intimidate ordinary people, sparing neither the very young nor the very old, operating on the conviction that nations outside the World Government's umbrella fall beyond the reach of any law. That cruelty made him a close echo of the dishonest officer Nezumi, whom he resembles in both temperament and looks.

While Marco was away in Wano Country, Ratel led his Marines onto Sphinx and set about seizing the treasure that Whitebeard had left behind. He menaced the locals himself, aiming his rifle at children and an old woman to force their cooperation. The raid unraveled when Edward Weevil showed up and flattened Ratel with one strike. His shaken forces fled to their ship, hauling their knocked-out captain and the rest of the wounded aboard, and the setback was severe enough that the Marines called for an Admiral. His captain's rank gives him command over lower Marines, and he kept a rifle on hand to threaten civilians, though his actual fighting strength was never tested before Weevil ended him.
