Spartan

A massive figure, Spartan keeps his long dark hair tied back. A scar runs down the right side of his body, starting at the base of his thick neck. For dress he sports an orange paludamentum, studded wristbands on both arms, dark briefs, and black boots.

Hot-tempered and combative, Spartan has no patience for onlookers who drift into the Colosseum merely to gawk, and he readily turns to threats and violence to clear out anyone who irritates him before a match. His judgments come fast: catching sight of Luffy in his "Lucy" guise, he instantly wrote the newcomer off as a weakling unfit to compete. He had a cruel streak too, having reportedly tormented Rebecca in earlier days. Even so, a better side surfaced when he joined the other gladiators in stalling Doflamingo so Luffy could recover his Haki.

Over his career, Spartan claimed victory in the Corrida Colosseum's monthly fighting tournament on fifty-one occasions, and during that stretch he also picked on Rebecca now and again.

When Luffy entered the tournament for the Mera Mera no Mi under the alias "Lucy," Spartan confronted him in the waiting room, fuming and assuming the young man was just a weakling there to sightsee, unaware he faced a notorious pirate. Brushing off the other fighters who tried to intervene, he swung at Luffy, who slipped the punch, seized his arm, hoisted him overhead, and slammed him down hard, leaving him unconscious as the room looked on stunned. Staff nearly disqualified Luffy for the scuffle, but the Chinjao Family spoke up and named Spartan as the one who deserved removal.

Much later, after Doflamingo raised his Birdcage and was nearly beaten, Spartan and the rest of the Colosseum gladiators rushed to back the exhausted Luffy. Their assault on Doflamingo failed and they were brushed aside, yet the delay they created let Luffy regain his strength, finish Doflamingo, and bring the Birdcage down.
