Take's carp heritage shows in his light blue skin, the pink fin at the back of his head, his hooked nose, and his row of sharp teeth. Long black hair falls around a face marked by tired bags beneath the eyes and red lips. The kanji for love sits inked on his brow, a wordplay built on the shared koi reading of love and carp, while a second tattoo of an arrow with twin swirls decorates his chest. He dresses in a blue-purple shirt edged with yellow waves and green cuffs, cinched by a blue sash.

Take holds the Marines in open contempt and openly mocked their effort to bring down Arlong. The anime gives him a trademark cackle rendered as "Gahohoho."

As a fish-man, Take moves with great agility underwater and can remain submerged for as long as he likes, and like the rest of his race he far outmatches an ordinary human in raw strength. Even so, he ranks as fairly weak against truly powerful foes, proven when Luffy scattered him and his crewmates by swinging Momoo around like a flail.
