Crimson Lotus Zabal

Of middling height and middle age, Zabal sports a black goatee under dark glasses, topped by a black beanie that bears two white sparks. A red coat hangs open at his chest, fitted with a broad white collar and a spark emblem on either side of the zipper, and what appears underneath looks like a red bodysuit. Two scarves drape him, one white at the throat and one blue over a shoulder, while brown fingerless gloves, slim belts cinched around his legs, and glossy dark red shoes round out the outfit.

Crude by nature, Zabal turns his medical expertise into a tool for tormenting people regardless of whether they are under his care, and he shrugs off any disapproval of his brutal methods. Loyalty to his captain runs strong, enough that he strikes down Ko to buy Simon time to flee. Practical and untroubled by grudges, he gladly carries the Straw Hat crew to Mee Island for the simple reason that their quest brings him closer to the treasure he wants. As several figures in the series do, he sports a signature laugh, a dry kukuku.

A bounty of thirty million berries reflects how dangerous Zabal is, and his rank as a Simon Pirates officer puts the lower crew under his command. He carries a blade and shows a measure of swordsmanship. His raw strength lets him shove the towering Ko aside with one hand, and through dedicated Crush Style training in his legs he can carry out surgery or slip past incoming attacks.

He turns up first in a coastal village, masquerading there as a plain physician before slipping off. Later he storms into a mine the crew is exploring, cuts Marc down, then loses the fight that follows and retreats. When the pirates attempt to sneak aboard his vessel, he catches them yet still grants passage to Mee Island, figuring their victory would put the prize within his reach. The voyage has him recounting his medical history to Chopper, who is left disgusted, and upon landing he vows to claim the treasure ahead of them before walking away.
