Oden Appears! The Confused Hearts of the Red Scabbards!

Guarded by Yamato and Shinobu against attacking Beasts Pirates, Momonosuke grows ashamed that he cannot protect himself. In his distress he suddenly shifts into a pink dragon, leaving Yamato stunned. The boy recounts how, back at Punk Hazard, he wandered into a sealed section of the lab and swallowed an artificial fruit, never realizing it was one of Vegapunk's SMILE creations. Far away in the treasure vault, the Nine Red Scabbards rejoice at the sight of their old lord Oden, certain he escaped death, only for the reunion to unravel into a deadly trap.

A CP0 operative lays out the fruit's origins: scientists under Vegapunk drew out Kaidou's Lineage Factor to engineer it, judged the result a failure, then left it forgotten when the facility shut down. Yamato observes that the power closely mirrors Kaidou's own. Momonosuke also senses through the corridors that Luffy is faltering, and indeed the Worst Generation cannot land a blow on Kaidou's hybrid serpent form atop the dome. In the vault, Ashura Doji grows wary and cuts the returned Oden's face, which fails to bleed; the figure then runs Ashura through, exposing itself as one of Kanjuro's living drawings.

Kanjuro admits that Kiku dealt him a mortal wound and that he will not last the night, yet he intends to spend his final breaths killing Momonosuke. The anime stages an added sequence of Yamato and Shinobu cutting down Beasts Pirates side by side, and lengthens the exchange among Momonosuke, Yamato, and Shinobu, during which the young lord changes back to human shape. The episode belongs to the Wano Country Arc.
