A Pledge for the New Era! Luffy and Uta

In Partys Bar, Uta gripes to her father about Luffy's training habits, insisting she only shields Shanks from the boy's pestering. When Luffy bursts in begging to join the crew and is refused, Uta drags him out to train at sea. Shanks quietly mentions to Makino that he will be leaving Foosha Village soon but plans to return. Out on the water the two children paddle in barrels toward what turns out to be the Lord of the Coast, and they scramble away.

The pair share their dreams: Uta wants to roam the world with Shanks and spread joy through her singing, while Luffy hopes to travel widely, meet all sorts of people, and sample every kind of food. As the Red Hair Pirates depart, Uta hauls a stowaway Luffy off the ship. When the crew later returns, no one will acknowledge Luffy, and Shanks tells him Uta has left to become a singer. Refusing to believe it, Luffy runs off in tears. Word then spreads of Elegia's destruction, a reported 100 percent death toll, with Shanks held responsible.

Garp and Sengoku link the catastrophe to Tot Musica and remark that Roger would be ashamed of Shanks, while the Five Elders also weigh in. Beckman urges Luffy to forgive Shanks, but the boy is later beaten by mountain bandits before Beckman rescues him. In the present, hearing Uta will give her first live concert, the Straw Hats set off for Elegia. Notably this episode ends with Luffy declaring he will become a Navy admiral rather than the Pirate King, and Beckman cows the bandits in a manner resembling Supreme King Haki. The installment belongs to the Uta's Past Arc.
