Summary

Heading for the cliff to track Luffy down, Nami and Zoro locate him resting unhurt at its foot and bring him around. Luffy then tells them what the butler Klahadore is truly plotting. Usopp, for his part, races into the village to raise the alarm about the looming assault, yet the residents place far greater trust in their caretaker than in a boy known for tall tales, and they run him out of town.

Key Events

Usopp makes for Kaya's mansion to caution her, but she treats it as an unusually cruel joke. When he attempts to walk her out of the building, the mansion guards stand in his way. Kaya will not move and even strikes him across the face, and the butler Merry puts a shot into his arm as the townsfolk keep up their pursuit. Meanwhile, Kuro assembles his crew aboard their ship anchored off the island and orders them to wipe out the whole village the next day. At the village's edge, Usopp, the crew, and the young Usopp Pirates gather once more; the children, let down by his lies, walk away, and the Straw Hats agree to stand with Usopp in defense of Syrup Village against the raiding Black Cat Pirates.

Notes

The episode falls within the Syrup Village Arc and features the first appearance of Merry. In the anime, Nami tends to Usopp and wraps his bullet graze, an act that never happens in the manga, where the bandage simply turns up on his arm with no indication of who put it there.
