Garp and Kuzan - A Clash of Justice Between Master and Apprentice

The clash on Hachinosu rages on. With the Marine ship nearly ready to pull out, a misstep by Koby costs Garp dearly, leaving him stabbed by Shiryu. Garp turns to confront the man he once trained, Kuzan, and memories of their drills together play out between blows. Elsewhere on the island, Avalo Pizarro sets up an attack meant to wreck the departing vessel.

Brannew shows Fullbody and Jango the battleships Kuzan and Garp once used for target practice. At Hachinosu, Garp hurls Sanjuan Wolf into the water, turns Vasco Shot's fire against the Blackbeard crew, and helps free the prisoners. As the Marines move to retreat, Koby rushes to rescue a hostage who turns out to be a disguised pirate; Shiryu lunges with his blade, and Garp throws himself in the way, taking the wound to spare Koby before ordering him off the island. Garp's duel with Kuzan brings back his memories of mentoring the young recruit, whose faith in justice broke after the Ohara massacre and drove him to defect. The fight ends in a draining stalemate, both men battered, only for Pizarro to fuse with the island and raise a colossal hand to crush the escaping ship. Garp assures Koby that justice always wins out.

The anime inserts Garp punching Wolf into the sea and Kuzan freezing pirates on his approach, and it lengthens the G-1 ship graveyard scene, the stabbing, and Pizarro shaping the island. This is the last installment with the Anime Bonus Corner. The Ohara reference implies Kuzan trained under Garp until at most twenty-two years prior. A celebrated moment comes when Garp and Kuzan trade punches: a single impact frame shows them as youths, then two frames of their older selves low-fiving, a composition fans linked to a Cyclops-and-Ryu Marvel vs. Capcom fan art by yeet_sonny.
