Summary

Bonney's strike does nothing; Saturn mends at once, takes hold of her, and bears down on the others. From there the show opens up Kuma's history, reaching back to his birth forty-seven years prior, the seizure of his family soon after, and the killing of his parents. Three decades and eight years ago, at a contest the World Nobles ran on God Valley, Kuma meets and grows close to two fellow slaves, Ivankov and Ginny.

Key Events

Doberman empties the city center of low-ranking Marines and witnesses Bonney drive her blade into Saturn, who knits back together in an instant, snatches her up, swats Sanji down without a touch, and clamps the remaining Straw Hats and Vegapunk satellites in place before raising Bonney for the Marines to gun down. Saturn lays out that Kuma sprang from the Buccaneer people, a race the World Government chased and put in chains over an ancient offense. He came into the world in the Sorbet Kingdom, son of the Buccaneer Clapp and a human woman, and at four years old he and his entire family were taken and enslaved to a World Noble in the Holy Land, valued for his strength yet brutalized all the same.

Notes

When his mother perished in bondage, Kuma's will to live drained away, but Clapp urged him onward, vowing that Nika would arrive to liberate him; the father's spirited dance ended when a noble shot him dead for the noise. The nobles afterward hauled the slaves to God Valley for a hunt of the island's unaffiliated folk, and the knight Figarland Garling struck down its king before the contest opened. Kuma slipped free, the nobles compelled the other slaves to recapture him, and as they did, Ivankov and Ginny stepped forward with an offer of freedom. The wiki's Anime Notes section held no entries. Clapp and Ginny debut, the Sorbet Kingdom first appears, and the Tsutsu Tsutsu no Mi is introduced.
