The Crew's Whereabouts! A Cheeper of Giant Birds and a Pink Showdown!

Hounded by okama, Sanji winds up before Caroline, who fills in for the absent queen of Kamabakka. To bargain a way off the island, he consents to clash with Caroline, the realm's fiercest fighter. Local rules force him into a dress, and his focus crumbles once Caroline keeps studying his underwear, so he begins kicking lower instead. The jeering only rattles him further, and after being hurled skyward he yelps in terror like a startled girl.

Sensing his own identity dissolving, Sanji drops the match and emerges remade as an okama, last glimpsed jogging the beach with cosmetics on, hair extensions in, painted nails, and heels dangling from one hand. He hails Nami and Robin, vowing that the next time they cross paths they will turn into wonderful friends. The episode pins his conversion squarely on Caroline.

Far from that scene, Chopper bandages an enormous fledgling that tumbled from above, feeds it, and brings it back to health, securing a pledge that once grown it will carry him to Sabaody. He stirs to find the chick vanished, chases it down, and the two are run to a cliff's lip by hostile islanders, where a wheeling flock of giant birds rescues the little one and pitches Chopper over the edge. Watching the birds and the natives battle, he wonders aloud why coexistence is so impossible. Caroline makes her first appearance in this episode, built largely from chapter cover-page art.
