Back to the Present! Hordy Makes a Move!

Following Otohime's death, Hody Jones hunts down a human pirate, shoots him, and displays the corpse as the queen's killer. Defying Jinbe's order to bury the body, he announces to the mourning crowd that a human ended her life. Neptune shuts himself inside the Hard-Shell Tower, refusing to come out until his fury subsides, with the ministers staying near. He admits he would have struck the gunman down even unarmed, then recognizes that doing so is precisely what Otohime would have opposed.

Neptune broods on the spiral of hatred, how one killing plants bitterness in watching children and chills their gaze. Caught between a ruler's obligation to honor his wife's wishes and a husband's craving for vengeance, he remembers his own days as a soldier who had once slain humans. After several days he composes himself and returns to his children.

On the funeral day, Shirahoshi mentions a stream of letters from a man named Vander Decken IX seeking her hand, which enrages Neptune since she is only six. He demands the suitor be found and keeps his children from the ceremony lest Decken show up. Everyone on the island turns out to grieve, and from a broadcast screen Fukaboshi proclaims that his mother's dream will be carried onward by himself and his siblings.

With the flashback over, Jinbe asks Nami's forgiveness for ever allowing Arlong to roam free. Nami replies that her bitterness rested only on Arlong and never on fish-men generally, and that she is content with her life as it stands, leaving Jinbe and Hachi weeping in gratitude.

After Sanji boots a slumbering Luffy, who had dozed off across the entire account, Hachi reveals that Hody's loathing of humans surpasses even Arlong's. With the World Summit looming and Neptune set to announce the merfolk's reach toward the surface, Hachi cautions that Hody means to claim that occasion for something far darker. Before he can finish, an enormous mobile visual Den Den Mushi materializes and Hody broadcasts island-wide that the New Fish-Man Pirates have seized control. The anime inserts Jinbe putting out a burning petition, the accused pirate attempting to flee before Hody shot him, and Neptune pounding the tower gate to vent his rage.
