Nami is Sick? Beyond the Snow that Falls on the Ocean!

The Island Eater dies under the giants' combined Hakoku, and the recoil leaves both their weapons in fragments. Stalling, Dorry and Brogy strain to recall what first drove their roughly century-long feud, right up until the signal for their next bout sounds. Their past comes to light: each had captained a band of giants who flattened every rival, and once both had slain a sea king, a small girl's idle question about which catch was larger drew them to Little Garden, where the clash simply never ended.

On the Merry, Usopp talks of reaching Elbaf one day, and Luffy gladly joins in singing and prancing until the two nearly topple over the side. Drained, Nami hands Vivi the Eternal Pose aimed at Arabasta and asks her to keep watch, while Vivi tells herself that survival is the only path to saving her homeland. Sanji emerges to heap snacks and drinks on the women, snapping that the famished men's share waits in the galley. At the stern, Zoro lifts heavy weights and brands himself weak for those he failed to protect.

A siren on Sandy Island alerts Mr. 2 Bon Kurei that departure time has arrived for his pirates, and orders send him to clear up the wreckage Galdino's group left behind at Little Garden. Nami's condition turns grave, and she collapses moments after announcing she will rest. Concealing her pain, she comes back to press Zoro on why he never watched the Pose, then predicts a freak gust will hit if they hold a straight line. At her warning Zoro orders the heading altered, and the pirates slip past a cyclone. Snow starts falling as Vivi nurses the bedridden navigator and both Sanji and Karoo lose their composure. Gazing across the water, Zoro notices a man standing on the waves and calls Luffy and Usopp over to look.

For the English broadcast, 4Kids Entertainment stitched this installment together with the one after it and a slice of the third to build its own 48th episode. The newspaper Vivi reads at Arabasta is the exact issue Nami had hidden during Episode 69. This is the opening chapter of the Drum Island Arc. It is also Wakana Yamazaki's last performance as Nami; she had covered for Akemi Okamura, who began maternity leave with Episode 70, and Okamura took the part back for good from the next installment.
