Summary

Sailing away beneath Drum Island's cherry-blossom display, the crew try to coax a withdrawn Chopper into their horseplay, and Nami gently reassures him that the boys are simply rowdy. Chopper warms to the idea of finally belonging somewhere. He reveals he can speak with animals, and the crew learn he was trained as a doctor by Kureha, who quietly tucked his medical bag into the sleigh knowing he would leave. On Drum Island, Kureha and Dalton discuss the kingdom's future, with Dalton resolving to stay and help rebuild rather than wander off in atonement. A wandering messenger had earlier passed through carrying word that Luffy should seek Ace in Arabasta within ten days. The next morning a giant bird snatches Luffy, who downs it with Gomu Gomu no Propeller and hands it over as meat. The crew then brief Chopper on their mission to return Vivi home and stop Crocodile's coup.

Notes

This is the final episode of the Drum Island Arc and the first to air exclusively on Cartoon Network, though episodes up through the Ruluka Island Arc kept 4Kids' broadcast edits. The source notes that in the Funimation and 4Kids versions Vivi incorrectly claims all officer agents numbered 5 and above use Devil Fruit powers, when Mr. 4 and Miss Goldenweek do not. The episode adapts portions of Chapters 142, 154, and 155, and debuts Nefertari Cobra, Chaka, Pell, Thalassa Lucas, and Ace, along with the locations Mary Geoise and Pangaea Castle.
