Tearfully Swearing Allegiance - Oden and Kin'emon

The boar keeps tearing through the Flower Capital until Oden faces it and ends the chaos. Once the destruction is over, he is driven from the city, though his valor wins him the loyalty of Kin'emon and Denjiro, who resolve to serve at his side. Following a stay as a guest of Shimotsuki Yasuie, Oden heads for Kuri, collecting Izou, Kikunojo, Kanjuro, and Raizo on the way before he reaches the bandit-plagued territory.

On hearing that the beast had swallowed Tsuru, Kin'emon throws himself at it, lands a lone stab, then is slammed to the ground and beaten. Oden arrives next and cleaves the Mountain God in two with his blade. Although a quarter of the town is reduced to rubble, no one is killed. Held responsible for the calamity, Oden receives a notice of disavowal from his father and is exiled, which moves Kin'emon and Denjiro to trail after him. Lodging in Hakumai under the daimyo Yasuie, Oden trashes his room, empties the safe, and leaves to wander the country, meaning to bring order to lawless Kuri. He gathers followers along the trek: at Ringo he gains the young siblings Izou and Kikunojo, then Kanjuro at Kibi, and the mountain bandit Raizo at Udon. Upon entering Kuri, he meets the bandit Ashura Doji and a battle erupts.

The adaptation depicts the precise moment Tsuru is swallowed, adds Hyougoro directing an evacuation while readying for combat, and shows Kin'emon straining uselessly to recover his fallen sword. Further additions have Oden questioning why Izou and Kikunojo keep tagging along, and pulling an annoyed face when Raizo asks to join. During the finishing strike, the anime shows Oden hardening his arms with Armament Haki, and it shifts his exchange with Kin'emon and Denjiro onto a bridge rather than solid ground.
