Summary

As the short begins, Luffy is racing after his hat as the wind carries it off, only to realize his crew has vanished. He shouts for them from the shoreline, and Law turns up to tell him the search is hopeless. According to Law, the Thousand Sunny has most likely been chased away, just as his own Polar Tang was, by something keeping both ships from reaching the coast. That obstacle soon rears up: Wano's Lord of the Coast, a Sea King that bursts out of a swelling wave and snaps at the two of them.

Key Events

The pirates spring aside from the creature's jaws, and Law catches a gleam buried in its throat. Activating his Scan technique, he finds a katana driven into the beast, which is the cause of its endless suffering, and he readies Shambles to draw it out. Luffy, however, dashes in ahead of him, insisting he will yank the blade free himself. Launching upward with Gear 3, he slams an Elephant Gun into the Sea King, dropping it and flinging the sword from its mouth. When the toppling beast threatens to crash onto them by the shore, Law snags it with Takt and flings it back into the water. Relieved of its torment, the Sea King rises once more, smiles at the pair, and waves its tail in farewell as it dives away.

Notes

Debuting on January 19, 2025, the short was put on as an unannounced panel, since both Mayumi Tanaka and Hiroshi Kamiya, who voice Luffy and Law, happened to be at the festival for separate appearances. With the Thousand Sunny at last nearing the beach, Luffy returns the Sea King's wave and announces he will claim the title of Pirate King. Narration duties fall to Mahito Ohba.
