Buggy and Alvida Alliance

Overview

This partnership joined what remained of two crews, the Buggy Pirates and the Alvida Pirates, the latter reduced to its captain alone. Both leaders, Buggy and Alvida, carried Devil Fruit powers and a personal hatred of Monkey D. Luffy, which is what pushed them together in the first place. As a fighting force, the two were modest, capable of overrunning the Kumate Tribe and throwing the Loguetown police into chaos, yet swiftly put down by Marine Captain Smoker. Their notoriety in the story far outlasted their early defeats, and the group eventually carried a combined bounty exceeding 44,000,000 berries.

Role

For a long stretch the alliance amounted to little more than Alvida lending her strength to Buggy's band, sailing the Grand Line and chasing the fabled riches of Captain John with no real success. Everything changed once Buggy was named a Warlord of the Sea. Riding that fame and a wave of new recruits drawn from Impel Down, the partnership reorganized into the Pirate Dispatch Organization called Buggy's Delivery, with Buggy installed as its head and his crimes wiped clean. When Buggy later lost the Warlord title, the whole operation was folded into the Cross Guild, an outfit Buggy was declared to lead, a role that strangely earned him a place among the Four Emperors.

Notable Members

The two captains anchored the group: Buggy, the former apprentice of the Roger Pirates, and Alvida, who had remade herself with a slippery Devil Fruit. After Buggy was blasted away by Luffy, Alvida tracked him down and proposed they team up. They followed Luffy to Loguetown and very nearly executed him before he slipped free and Smoker scattered them. Later sightings placed the crew searching for John's hoard and even celebrating alongside Portgas D. Ace. When Buggy was hauled off to Impel Down, his followers gave up the rescue, only for him to break out on his own with a band of inmates and rejoin them after the Marineford war.
