Ace

Item

The Pirate King relied on a single cutlass throughout his career, and its name was Ace. Elite craftsmanship earned it a slot among the twelve Supreme Grade Blades, the rarest tier of famous swords, and across every battle Roger waged it was never once seen to crack.

Overview

Placed within the Supreme Grade, the elite dozen at the top of the famous-blade rankings, this cutlass counted as one of the most formidable weapons anyone had ever crafted. Its equals could be numbered on one hand; only rare arms like the Murakumogiri that Whitebeard carried stood on its level. Roger, the Pirate King, kept it at his side as the tool most associated with him.

Function

Where the grip meets the pommel, a golden dome forms the main guard, and a thinner secondary guard lies over the yellow hilt, which is decorated with a repeating diamond motif. The blade of standard length bends in a soft arc and carries a saw-toothed hamon running down each face, while a black scabbard holds it when sheathed. Toughness was its defining trait: throughout Roger's fights the steel never chipped. He could route two forms of Haki into it, both the Armament type and the Conqueror's variety.

Notable Users

Roughly thirty-eight years back, the blade came into Roger's hands. Twenty-six years ago he swung it across the four days of his final duel against Whitebeard's crew, and he also carried it during the God Valley Incident. The last confirmed sighting placed the weapon with him while the Roger Pirates searched for the Road Poneglyphs; where it went afterward, and what condition it is in, remains a mystery. Roger would go on to name his son Ace, though whether the sword steered that decision is never spelled out.
