Overview

This matched pair belongs to Shiki, the pirate known as the Golden Lion, and both rank as Skillful Grade Blades. Their unusual fate is that Shiki turned them into his legs, embedding the hilts where he had cut off his feet.

Function

The swords resemble jian but carry an odd profile, with cross-shaped tsubas jutting on all four sides, red grip wrapping, and blades that are broad near the base and narrow toward the point. When Shiki wedged the hilts into his leg stumps, the weapons sometimes appeared shorter than they had been before. He handled them with considerable skill even before the conversion, cutting down crowds of Marines at Marineford and standing against figures like Roger, Garp, and Sengoku. Once they became his legs, he could fire air-based slashes by kicking, producing light yellow and gold blades of wind reminiscent of the CP9 Rankyaku. Combined with his Fuwa Fuwa no Mi, he could carve open a body of water and then levitate it to drown enemies. His named move Zanpa does exactly that, slicing through water with his leg-swords and raising it to trap and drown an opponent, a technique he debuted against Luffy.

Notable Users

Shiki is the sole owner. Long ago he used the pair as ordinary swords to slaughter Marines at Marineford a week before Roger's execution, then challenged Garp and Sengoku, lost, and had the blades confiscated to Impel Down's Level 6 when he was imprisoned. Twenty years before the series began, after cutting off his legs to escape, he reclaimed Oto and Kogarashi and grafted them on as prosthetics. They fell with him when Luffy finally defeated him, and their fate afterward is unknown.
