Peacock Slashers

Item

Nefertari Vivi fights with the Peacock Slashers, keen little gems strung on wire that echo the eye-spots along a peacock's tail. Looped around a finger and swung, each jewel spins into a slicing disk she throws against her opponents.

Overview

Vivi's weapon of choice is a set of jeweled wires. Each unit consists of a small, sharp-edged gem attached to a length of wire, shaped to resemble the round eye-markings that ornament a peafowl's tail plumage.

Function

She attacks by winding one wire end around a little finger and spinning the gem until it whirls into a cutting disk. Back when she posed as Miss Wednesday, she tucked them inside her top, hidden within the rings drawn around her chest. A stronger variant, the Kujakki String Slasher, replaces the lone jewel with a pair of long chains of the sharp gems, giving her more durability and greater reach; she can lash, pierce, or twirl them into razor disks, and their edge was fierce enough to sever a seated victim's neck together with the top of the chair behind him, a feat she pulled off striking at Crocodile. When she is not using them, she frequently wears these chains as a belt. Building on that, the Kujakki String Slasher Runback begins with feinted stabs at two enemies; she misses on purpose, then swings the wires back around to catch both of them from behind once their defenses drop. A companion move, the Miwaku no Memai Dance, has her dance in a way that leaves foes dizzy and exposed.

Notable Users

These belong to Nefertari Vivi alone. Their first appearance came during a bout against Zoro, and she later brought the String Slasher to bear on Crocodile and used the Runback against agents of Baroque Works. A number of additional techniques, among them a combination attack with Nami's Clima-Tact and several dance-driven skills, exist only within non-canon games and adaptations.
