Beyond the walls, the officer agents wait in ambush, under orders to kill Vivi before she can disrupt Crocodile's design. Mr. 4 catches sight of six ducks bolting toward them, each bearing a hooded passenger. Miss Merry Christmas is baffled by the tally, since their intelligence names only four pirates, but Miss Doublefinger reminds her of the added Mr. Prince, which together with Vivi makes the count match. Mr. 1 stresses that only the princess matters.

Unable to determine which mount carries Vivi beneath the matching cloaks, and racing the clock before she can reach Koza, the agents are left with no choice but to gamble.

Mr. 4's explosive pitch is useless against the birds' speed, and the riders peel off into pairs heading different ways. The southern duo is pursued by Miss Merry Christmas alongside Mr. 4, the western by Mr. 1 with Miss Doublefinger, and the southwestern by Mr. 2. Every pairing proves to be a decoy: the riders turn out to be Zoro and Nami, Chopper and Sanji, and Usopp with Matsuge. Vivi, who held back in hiding with Karoo, thanks her crewmates for luring the enemy off, and with the road finally clear she dashes to overtake the rebel army.

The chapter arranges the scattered duels of the coming Alubarna battle, setting Zoro and Nami against Mr. 1 with Miss Doublefinger, putting Sanji and Chopper opposite Miss Merry Christmas and Mr. 4, and leaving Usopp with Matsuge to face Mr. 2.
