Nico Robin

As Mizu Luffy, the rubber pirate lands far more hits on Crocodile than before, leaving Cobra amazed. Robin cuts the king's wonder short, telling him to lead her to the poneglyph at once, and when Crocodile barks out the name Nico Robin to hurry her along, Cobra is stunned to hear it. Enraged, Crocodile withers the grass and trees and dries out the whole ground into deep cracks. Luffy fires a water gun, but the Warlord soaks it up with his right hand, which he reveals can absorb moisture without limit, and uses Ground Secco to convert everything back into sand.

Holding Cobra hostage, Robin runs into a Marine detachment led by Tashigi and orders them aside, declaring her hatred of government dogs. Cobra urges the Marines to stand down and warns them the bomb will go off at 4:30, only seven minutes away. One Marine recognizes Robin's Devil Fruit and identifies her as the girl who, twenty years earlier at age eight, sank six Marine warships and carried a 79,000,000 berry bounty before vanishing. Outmatched, Tashigi sends the others to the palace to stop the bomb and faces Robin alone, only to have her Shigure blade taken and leveled at her own throat. Back at the palace Crocodile seizes Luffy by the neck and dehydrates him completely, declaring the boy beaten again.

Robin's name and her 79,000,000 berry bounty for the Ohara incident are confirmed for a second time, the bomb's window narrows to seven minutes, and Luffy falls to Crocodile yet again. The cover is a color spread echoing the Beatles' antiwar anthem, a reference Oda paired with a comment condemning the September 11 attacks in the issue; that spread, redrawn to include Robin, later opened the anime's fourth theme, Bon Voyage.
