Heaven's Gate

Nami berates Luffy, Sanji, and Zoro for proving useless against the attacker, while Chopper thanks Gan Fall, who calls it his duty. Luffy can barely move, and Robin attributes it to the thin oxygen. Gan Fall asks whether they hail from the Blue Sea, noting that ordinary people from below cannot withstand this place. He warns that the White Sea teems with danger and that he will aid them only for a fee of five million extol per summons through the whistle. He also reveals the Knock Up Stream was not their only possible route up, leaving Nami in tears over her hardships. Impressed they braved such a perilous method without losing any crew, he leaves them the whistle and departs.

Robin notes they still lack any solid information about Sky Island. The crew reaches a waterfall blocked by a thick cloudbank, and Luffy finds it soft and springy like cotton, puzzling Nami. Spotting a massive door on the far side, the Straw Hats investigate and arrive at Heaven's Gate, where an old woman calling herself the Watcher of the Gate asks for an entry fee, though she stresses payment is not required. After the crew declines, the sea's speedy shrimp ferries the Going Merry onward to the island.

Meanwhile the gatekeeper reports to a god and his priests that seven pirate trespassers have entered. The chapter establishes that more than one Sky Island exists and that the Knock Up Stream is not the sole way to reach them, while also introducing the extol as the local currency in place of the Berry. Pierre is revealed to have eaten the Uma Uma no Mi. The cover continues Wapol's Omnivorous Hurrah, and the chapter belongs to the Skypiea Arc.
