Summary

The final round of the Davy Back contest closes when Foxy is hurled into the sky and splashes down beyond the arena, snapping a winning run that had stretched across 920 matches. Itomimizu and the rest of the Foxy Pirates scramble to fish their sinking captain out of the water while Itomimizu names Luffy the victor. The Straw Hats crowd around their knocked out captain, Usopp jabbing him in celebration until Chopper scolds him for treating the injured Luffy so roughly. When Luffy comes to, he anxiously asks whether he actually won, and Zoro reassures him before he flops back down in relief.

Key Events

Recovered, Foxy offers a handshake and then tries to flip Luffy over his shoulder, but the rubbery arm simply stretches and the throw flops. As champion, Luffy may draft any Foxy crewmate, yet he instead demands their pirate flag, which leaves the losers stunned. He refuses Sanji's plea to take Gina aboard. After realizing their emblem also marks the sail, the Foxy crew protests, so Luffy promises to wipe it and hand them a replacement banner. His hastily drawn new design is so ugly the pirates sink into gloom, while Luffy reads their misery as gratitude. The Foxy Pirates then sail off aboard the Sexy Foxy, their captain vowing future revenge.

Notes

With the Going Merry liberated, the Straw Hats visit Tonjit and Shelly, and Chopper treats the horse's wounds. Nami offers the pair a lift to rejoin their clan, but the ten islands cannot be distinguished by the Log Pose. Searching for food, Tonjit collides with a towering man asleep on his feet. The stranger startles awake, and Robin recoils in terror at the sight of him. He is revealed as the Marine admiral Aokiji, who remarks that Robin has matured into a fine woman. The cover continues Gedatsu's side story, where his rescuer Goro introduces himself as a hermit digging for hot springs. Adapted in Episode 219 and Episode 226.
