Summary

The escapees celebrate landing safely on the warship, though Jinbe scolds them for rejoicing too soon, and Ivankov scrambles to find medicine for the poisoned Inazuma. Magellan, stunned that the prisoners actually seized a vessel, calls for another ship to retrieve him so he can finish them personally. The Marines repair the cannon damage Jinbe inflicted and resume their barrage, while officer Akehende insists the Gates of Justice will never part for pirates.

As the ship bears down on the looming Gates, the prisoners panic over how to pass, but Jinbe calmly tells them to keep sailing. Luffy orders the men to defend the ship, Crocodile and Luffy use their powers to swat away cannonballs, and Buggy's crew mans the guns. To everyone's astonishment, including Magellan's, the Gates swing open.

Key Events

The mystery resolves when the real Magellan storms into the Generator Room and finds a perfect double of himself. Bentham, who had copied the warden's face earlier with his Mane Mane powers, had issued the order to open the Gates, then commanded they be shut once the prisoners' ship cleared them. Jinbe reveals that Mr. 2 chose to remain behind for exactly this, handing Luffy a Baby Den Den Mushi to reach him.

As the call connects, the whole crew begs Mr. 2 to answer, realizing what his sacrifice means. Before the Gates seal and cut the line, Luffy shouts his thanks, and Bentham finally replies, telling Luffy to save his brother. The doors close on the call as Mr. 2 squares off against Magellan, and the escapees weep for their friend.
